How to claim youth allowance as a student in Australia?

• I'm very confused about claiming youth allowance. First i claimed online and received forms to fill out by mail and there are 4 forms that ask A LOT of questions about my parent's tax, private company, income, cost of assets, EVERYTHING ! Is this right ? Can someone tell me clearly how it works ? thank you in advance

  Youth Allowance is only payable if you pass the independence test or if your parents have income and/or assets below certain levels. The questions on all of those forms are designed to tell Centrelink if you are eligible for any Youth Allowance and if so, what level of YA you can get.
