Can i claim my petrol back on my own?

Can I claim money for petrol on my Tax?

• I am a receptionist/admin assistant who works at an organisation just out of a small town, and part of my job is to take the mail and banking into town most days. There is a company car that i can use however, another employee takes it home and alot of the time its not there for me to use. I am also allowed to take the CEO's car but once again, its not always available. There fore i have no other option but to use my car. I dont mind doing it on the odd occasion but its becoming a regular thing. Both other cars that i mention also have fuel cards so neither of them have to pay for their own petrol. Can i claim money on my tax return for petrol use and if so, what kind of proof do i need? Also, do you think i have reason to ask for my own fuel card or am i being greedy?

  I would be speaking to your employer about this as technically you cant claim this. Why not ask for your own fuel card and explain to you boss why. Perhaps the boss can stop the other employee for taking the car home as really they are not running errands and you do need the car to run the usual errands for the company. Petrol costs money and your not being greedy at all. Its your money that your spending all to run the daily errands.
