What is the VAT rate on fuel in the UK?
-
I know that VAT was extended to fuel in the 90s in the UK at 17.5%, but I also know that Tony Blair reduced it to around the 5-8% region when coming to power, yet as far as I know, it has since been re-raised to the standard rate (17.5%)... could anyone please tell me if it actually has? Fuel i.e. standard household fuel, central heating/stove etc

Answer:
Domestic fuel is still subject to VAT at 5%; commercial users pay the standard rate of 17.5%.
