WHAT SORT OF PAID JOB CAN A 14 YEAR OLD GET? xxx?

In the UK; do you get paid 12 or 14 months in one year? ?

  • I am thinking about moving from Portugal to live and work in the UK. I have seen job ads, but always say what is salary per year, so I d like to know if I should divide it by 12 months, or more,to know what Im going to get monthly. (in Portugal you get 14 months in a year - 12+holiday and Christmas pay) .

  • Answer:

12 months, unless you get paid every 4 weeks, in which case it's 13 months.

If it's advertised as a yearly wage i would say divide by 12. Some jobs will pay weekly, then you would have to divide by 52. I used to get paid Christmas bonus but have never worked for a big employer. Most small firms will give Christmas bonuses.

If it's a salary then remember that if you are paid monthly (12 times per year) then you get the same amount each month, whether there are 4 or 5 Weeks in that month. i don't xmas bonus (get it April as its performance related) so this is a pain at xmas as they pay 1 week early which means a 6 week gap between pay days :-(
