If you, as a self build. build a pair of semi detached houses can you claim the vat back?

    Contact your local Customs and Excise office as soon as possible as get some information about how to claim and what you can claim - there are certain situations where you can claim VAT back on a self-build, but you only have a 3 month window once the property is completed and you can only make one claim. So you need to have all your paperwork up to date and correct, and you need to know exactly what you are doing.

There are dozens of Self-Build web sites that specialise in helping self-builders eg link 1 .. there are even some (link 2) that will help you reclaim VAT (for a nice FAT fee, of course) The UK law on house build and house extensions etc. is rather complex .. so if you are SERIOUS about this, I suggest you do your own research (rather then rely on off-the-cuff answers or some rip-off VAT reclaim 'consultants')
