Can you reclaim tax on a UK company dividend?
-
If a uk company pays a dividend, it will get paid with tax deducted at basic rate. Is it possible to reclaim this tax if your income is low enough you dont pay income tax?
-
Answer:
No you cannot. Petrusclavus cocks up again - and this is basic stuff. The dividend carries a non-refundable tax credit. If you are a basic rate taxpayer you don't need to pay any tax on it. If you are a higher rate taxpayer you need to pay an additional 22.5%. If you don't pay tax, it is not refundable.
