Can i cash a income tax cheque at the post office?

Hi to my Surprise i got a cheque from the HM revenue this morning its not much but every little helps .just wanted to know if i can cash it at the post office ot do i have to put it through my bank account .Many thanks

The only way to find out if you can do something is to try to do it and, thus, see if you are able to accomplish it. In this particular case, I suspect you will not be permitted to en cash the cheque, but will be required to pay it into a bank account.

You need to pay it into a bank account. They used to issue warrants that could be cashed, but now they only issue crossed cheques. Too many warrants were "going astray" in the post.
