Where is the Liverpool tax office?

What is council tax valuation list?

  • Hi I bought a property in Liverpool, the property is old and need repair a lot. I received a letter from Valuation Office says this property is deleted from entry, the letter says: "Council Tax: Notice of deletion of an existing entry in the valuation list I have altered the Valuation List by deleting the entry shown below because it is on longer a dwelling for Council Tax perposes" Now I am live in this property without paying any council tax, I am happy with that. My quesions 1. what is bad points of being deteted from the list? 2. Is deletion is forever or a period of time? 3. Now, if I want sell this property, could I do it? and the deletion will affect price? 4. If I want to rent the property out, could I? 5. Could I ask VOA to revluation at any time? or they will come check at any time? 6. Although I do not pay any tax, do I still have rights to have council services, such as: ask repair pavement, take bins...? Thanks

  • Answer:

By not informing the VOA or your local Council of this you are only delaying having to pay Council Tax. They will find out eventually and you will have to pay from the date the work was completed.

The Council think that it is unfit for human habitation and will offer no services at all to you (why should you get your bins emptied for nothing when others have to pay?). You must tell them that you are living there.

The information in the link should help you, it explains why some properties get deleted. The gist of it is that a property can be deleted if it is in such a bad state that it needs a level of major and structural repair that will in effect cause it to become a new building, which means it will then have to be revalued and might not be in the same council band after renovation as it was in before. I would think you have the rights to the council services though, after all student houses for instance are exempt from council tax and they get their bins emptied.
