Answer:
Welcome to the world of work my friend :-) As the previous respondents have said, you have been placed on an emergency basic rate of income tax and you I presume earn enough to be paying your national insurance contribution. NI is typically 11% and your tax is typically 25% (with a few thousand £s of tax-free/NI-free income). These tax-free allowances are spread over 52 weeks, so even if you haven't earned enough to meet the thresholds yet this financial year, the tax and NI contribution is deducted anyway. Keep all your payslips and if you think you've overpaid at the end of the year, you can claim back the overpayment from the tax man. p.s. £57/£225 is about 25% of your income, so that sounds about right.

BR is an emergency tax code is this a new job, have they got your most recent P45 ? Your normal tax code should be 647L, meaning you earn £6475 per year before you pay any tax your age is irrelevant, it's how much you earn that counts Don't worry you will get your overpaid tax back soon.

BR is basic rate tax, once your details are put into the system it will be sorted. The tax office cant give you are tax code until they know all of your personal details. So you are taxed at basic rate,it could be between 18% and 20% in future. It all based on your circumstances, like if you have any dependents ect.

Other answers are correct, but it wont sort itself out. You need to ask your employer for a form P46 whihc you sign to say this is your only job. They will then put you on code 647L week 1 basis. You need to contact your atx office to ask them to issue a code number which includes your previous pay and tax for this year and your employer will make the refund.
