UK tax office not giving my tax claim , just because i don have p45?

  • i worked for a company and they are closed now , they didn't send me any p45 and i can not get statement of earnings because they are closed ... i was in br code for 1 year still i was doing just one job , i have my p60 and now my tax code changed but no refund ,... what can i do , please someone help me i do have a payslipt of my previouse employer and tax reference number , what can i do now ?

  • Answer:

Your question is a bit confusing.A p45 is when you leave a company partway through a tax year a p60 is given when you are still working at a company at the end of a tax year.If the company has ceased trading and you left partway through the year the company should have given you a p45. If they haven't check with the tax office as they may hold the details if the employer sent them in.If the employer did not give you a p45 , hmrc don't hold the details , you have not kept your payslips and the company have ceased trading theres little you can do.The tax office will not give a rebate without proof.

Well what did HMRC say. Did they say you have overpaid tax? If you have been paying the correct amount of tax you will not get a refund.
