Do I need to send the original or copy of the student council tax exemption certificate (UK) help?

I'm an international student in the UK. I've got an exemption certificate from university but I am unsure whether I should send the original along with the exemption app form or whether I should send a copy. I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer this question for me.

A copy should be ok, but this is something you should call your local council and ask them directly. Some councils may be happy with a copy, some may want the original! They won't bite your head off, your just asking a basic question! :0) Do make sure you get the form off to them though as soon as you can!

The document will be scanned anyway, so If you take it into the Civic hall/customer service centre, they will be able to see it is the original, scan it and hand it back to you.
