How do I know I am on the right tax code?

I need to know the right tax code pls?

    That is the normal tax code for most people now. You don't get anything extra for being married or having kids.

That is the normal basic tax code for a person aged under 65. Married with kids makes no difference.

A tax code is not 'one size fits all', it is specific to the individual and takes into consideration all of their personal circumstances. He should have had a new 'Notice of Coding' at the beginning of April for the financial year 6 April 2010 - 5 April 2011. I assume you got his code from his pay slip. If you want to check if the code is correct he needs to ring HM Revenue & Customs in Newcastle Upon Tyne on 0845 366 7865. He should quote his National Insurance No. and also his Tax Reference No. Both should be quoted on his pay slip. He'll also have to quote his name and address etc.
