Can i still claim jsa if i earn £85 a week?

Had part time job, how will this affect my Job Seekers Allowance?

  • This is a little confusing, so I will do my best to explain this. On the 24th and 25th of may I did a temporary job which was supposed to last one week but on the second day I was ill and had to go home because of this the agency I was working for let me go. Because I worked under 16 hours I didn't sign off, so when I signed on at the job centre on 4th June I explained what happened and they told me that when I receive a pay slip to bring it in so they can take what i have earned from my JS. They was a mix up with my pay from this agency and i haven't received a pay slip as yet. I have been told by the job centre that they cannot deduct this until I have received a payslip, to this date I haven't received one as yet and I am concerned that my claim will be stopped and I will not receive any more money. I was wondering if anyone has been in the same situation as this and if you know if they is any time frame that the job centre will use for eg how long would it take for the job centre to stop my claim due to non receipt of a pay slip? The job centre also filled out a B7 from whilst i was there when i last signed on but they couldn't fill all of the details because I hadn't been paid, this still got sent off, but also i was given a form that I had to fill out. Basically on this form the first question is "Do you have a job?" I answer no, then I go to question 2 and it asks for the date I last worked on what the job title is, then it tells me to go to the last section which is signing my name, but for example if i had answered yes to me having a job it will ask you for all these different details eg, address of employee, how much do u earn etc, I kinda feel like I have been told the wrong thing, so i'm very confused. The problem i have is I cannot afford for them to take any money from me the next time I receive my jsa which will be 23rd June I sign on the friday before this. I still have'nt been paid from this job!

  • Answer:

I waited about 3 months for my final payslip, (but I was paid) to give to the Jobcentre, but I was still paid Jobseekers while I waited, I just had to explain that I was trying to get hold of it,as I had moved and was having trouble getting to see someone. If you haven't been paid then tell the Jobcentre, if you only did 1 day it could be that the agency didn't get your details down to be able to pay you.
