Is child benifit and tax credit the same?

Will i still recieve CHILD TAX CREDITS?

  • ok here is my situation i am a full time mum of 2 year old girl, my partner works 40 hours a week and cash in hand job every night fortnighly, he gets working tax credits on top, i get £20.30 child benifit, and £53 ish child tax credit, i am 19 weeks pregnant, i want to get at least a week end job will my child tax credits be affected, will they stop as we really need the extra money so i can start buying some stuff as my partner is intent on leaving it all to his step mum to buy everything for the baby which i dont think is fair. i know i will find it hard to find any work this far gone but i wanna try but i wanna know my options as to my child tax credits and how much of it might be reduced

  • Answer:

The more you earn, the less you are entitled to in tax credits, depending how much you earn, you will definitely lose some money off your tax credits, both working and child tax credits
