What is the emergency tax rate in the uk?

New UK Rate of Tax; Could this rumour be true?

  • Barrack Rumours are circulating that Senior Treasury Officials have discussed a new rate of HyperTax. During discussions an informant in the little known City Private Members Club, the Usury and Malfeasance. A Senior Treasury Civil Servant is rumoured to have made the following statement. “Of course we are considering new and higher tax rates, in fact the idea of a top rate of Tax of 70% has been considered. Unfortunately in the current climate the super rich usually use Tax Lawyers to pay little or no Tax at all. That’s why we’ve been tabling the idea of targeting the 40% Tax Bracket. As the majority in this bracket pay full tax and are unable to use loopholes for Tax avoidance this would be ideal. Besides this Taxing the City would result in High Paid Jobs moving overseas and the loss of their valuable personal taxes going to the Trea….. this is off the record isn’t it?” When asked about the imminent increases in rail ticket prices he implied that a senior Government Official had come into his office, rubbing his hands together, laughing in a stage villain fashion and muttering “more back door taxes, more back door taxes”.
