How do I know I am on the right tax code?

Does anyone know how much tax should be deducted from your salary????

  • I have just started a job & have a couple of Quest.: - does anyone know how much tax should be deducted (tax + N. I.) from my monthly salary £1.560)?? _ Does having the right Tax code matter in how much tax should be deducted?? What if your employer has put 2 salaries onto 1 payslip, what does this mean?? Is there a web. site where it can calculate the right amount of tax that should be deducted?? THANKS!!

  • Answer:

I always go with roughly a quarter with tax + NI. So that should leave you (if your 1560 is your before tax figure) with a takehome of around 375 reduction, so take home about 1200ish. The tax code is very important as it lets the taxman know how much of your income should go untaxed. It's usually the first £5000 ish. I would ask your employer why he has put two salaries in one payslip, could be a clerical error and you don't want to end up on the bad side of a money error!! Good luck
