How to become an accountant uk?

• i am aiming to become a managing accountant however i am not sure what path to take to get there. I am currently doing my GCSEs and am planning to study economics, maths, further maths and accounting at A level during college near where i live. I do not know what to study at University or what other qualifications i need; so this is where i need your help. Any advice on courses at university and other qualifications or things that may look good an my CV are what i need. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  There are loads of different ways of becoming an accountant without even having to go to university. Even if you spent 3 years at university doing an Honours degree you would still then have to do more exams in order to get your professional accreditation and join a regulatory accountancy body. You could go to college part time and study for your AAT (Association of Accountancy Technicians) for 3 years. Most local colleges will offer this course. After that you could go to university, again part-time, and study for your ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants). If you study for your ACCA qualification having already passed AAT you would get some automatic passes for some of the modules. ALternatively if you are definitely sure you want to be a Management Accountant you could study for a CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). Like the others you could study for this part-time and there are a number of private colleges, such as BPP or Kaplan Financial, who would offer this. These colleges are in the majority of the major cities and you can normally study at these colleges on a distance learning or a taught (i.e. going into classes) basis. Good luck!!
