How long do I have to wait for my final job seeker allowance?

If i claim Job seeker allowance how long will i have to wait before i get pay ?

  • I lost my job last May and i claimed JCAllowence tow Month now i didn't get anything. although i have found new job now i was frustrated by the mismanagement in the JCplus whenever i when there the staff would just give me a phone number to call when i called i was told i would be contacted soon they never did. I know many people who experience the same problem. Is the job centre fit for propose?

  • Answer:

With JSA you are not paid for the first 3 days of a new claim. Once you make your claim you should have been invited for an interview. At that interview you would have been given a day and time to sign on. You get paid 2 days after you sign on. It is likely that you would have gotten your first payment no later than 2 weeks after putting in your claim You should write in to the manager detailing your difficulties will JCP and ask them for any backdated money that is owed.

My mum claimed for job seekers last monday and she is due her first payement this friday which will make it about 12 days. But she was told to ring them yesterday to confirm some details and they said they would call her back within 3 hours- never did. Rang again and they said the same thing- never rang. By then it was too late so she is going to pop in and see them today. They can be useless sometimes
