How do I get a reminder off my mobile?

I don't get any road tax reminder?

  • My road tax will end by the end of this month but I don't get any road tax reminder. What can I do? Should I wait more or can I pay the road tax at the post office with the reminder? If if don't pay the road tax by end of this month, then will I be fined or something? Thanks

    No, you changed your address for the driving license but that is not connected to the vehicle registration. Sorry but the two systems do not talk with each other yet. Get the vehicle of the road, check direct.gov.uk to see if they can take corrections by phone. Amend address by phone if possible and by snail mail if not possible. Your insurance must also have a correct address as they cross check the insurance. If not sorted by Wednesday (last day of the month) then you will have to keep the vehicle of the road until you have your new tax disc. Sorry but the onus is on the registered owner to keep the address up to date.

To re-tax online your need the ref from the reminder .....You can go to the post office with out one and just take MOT, Insurance and V5 or the green slip. I have used a car for 3 months with out tax as the DVLA would not let me tax it so dont worrie but I would just go post office and tax it on the 1st not before as you will lose a months tax.

is the car registered at your house as it is a reason why you may not have a reminder if it isnt. You need to tax your car but i think you have 2 weeks after the expiry date to get one but id check what has happened as you usually need the reminder or the number off it.

Hi, It may be in your best interests to give them a phone call just to make certain they have your up to date details. They will not accept any responsibility for you not renewing your tax. If you are not taxed you will not be covered by insurance either should you have an accident.

You can either re-tax car online at dvla website or go to post office and get a form to fill in and get tax there
