I've never heard of a Basic Travel Allowance - what context is this in? A 419 scam is a scam, typically coming from Nigeria, where someone emails you offering what seems like a chance to get a lot of money, but they ask for an upfront fee, which you'll never see again.

419 is a scam that steals million of dollars every year from unsuspecting victims. They are generally based out of Nigeria, but they've been popping up everywhere. They promise you millions of dollars in exchange for some kind of simple task such as letting them put money in your bank account. They'll have some sob story about public officials or royalty that have been killed, or some big firm needing to get money out of the country. Don't fall for this. If you think you might be a victim, DONT give them ANY more money. If you have given them personal information say something like you had a family emergency and sadly have no more money to give them. Then break off contact, and send the whole thing to the FBI. If you have NOT given them any money, or personal info I suggest breaking off contact without a word. Try this website.. they have lots of useful info www.419eater.com
