Can I work 16 Hours/Week and still claim JSA (UK)?

  • i.e. If I work 16 hours in a shop, can i also claim the job seekers allowance (JSA). So I would have my 16 hours pay and the the ~£60 from the JSA

  • Answer:

Yes, but they deduct part of your wages from th JSA paymnet, so you won't get £60 ....

no you can work 15h 59 mins cos 16 hours is considered too much if u earn less than £60 you'll still get whatever is left to make it up to £60 which will b nothing if youre working almost 16 hours

No JSA is stopped - 1.when you work 16 hours a week or more 2. when your earnings are the same or more than the JSA payment Also for every £1 you earn your JSA is reduced, so even if you only worked 10 hours a week, your JSA would be reduced accordingly

No you can't. However you can work up to 16 hours per week so if you work for 10. They would give you 6 hours equivalent of your jobs seekers. However that said you should be able to get something like working tax credits to top your wages up.
