Is it true that people on Work Permit through Indian IT companies dont have to pay income tax for first 2 yrs?

Is it true that some people who come to UK on work permit through Indian IT companies dont pay income tax for their first two years in the country (atleast the P60s do not show any taxes paid)? Do Indian IT companies/workers get some sort of tax rebate? What govt laws/regulations permit this?

Answer:
I doubt there is anything specific to India or indeed any particular country. It may be that staff are brought over for short enough assignments that they do not become UK resident and ordinarily resident so they get some tax advantage - but earnings on duties of employment performed in the UK will still be taxable here. There is no 2 year 'exemption' to my knowledge.
