How long does a homeowners insurance refund take to process?

I've just recieved the following email..?

  • I've just been sent this e-mail from the HM Revenue, i don't have a clue what it's about though or why they've sent it to me! Here's what it says : Inland Revenue Tax Refund - You are eligible to receive a tax refund of £281.43. After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of £281.43. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6-9 days in order to process it. ATENTION: Insufficient or incorrect information may lenghten the whole process. Usually does not take more than one week from the date you have provided us with your details. In some cases (especially submitted by those without permanent National Insurance Number) this may take considerably longer. You have 48 hours to complete your tax refund claim. --------------------------------------… Then after that it gives a link, although i don't want to click it as i don't think its the Hm Revenue genuine site,

  • Answer:

Its fake. Inland Revenue doall their business by post; if you were due a tax refund, they would notify you in the post. Just think a minute; when have Inland Revenue EVER asked for e-mail addresses? The best thing to do is search for Inland Revenue on Google or Yahoo or something, and see what the website address comes up as in the search results. If it looks identical then great: lucky you: i'm fairly sure that their website is "www.hmcustoms.gov.uk", but I could be wrong! It sounds like a fake e-mail to me - a scam..

Sounds to me like it's almost definitely phishing. Especially because they only give you 48 hours to complete your claim. If you have reason to believe it could be real or want to be sure, I would suggest you look up HM Revenue site through some other means and find the customer service number and ask them about it.

If it was them, they would send you a letter, where they can be practically sure that you will receive it. It sounds like spam, just delete it and foget about it.

This is a scam. DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS TO ANYONE ON THE INTERNET CLAIMING TO BE THE INLAND REVENUE.

Scam, scam; all they want is your personal info for Identity Theft and credit card fraud. The site is fake. They do this scam by phone too. NEVER TRUST ANY EMAIL or CALL. If you have any doubt then go personally to the Tax Office, they'll expalin you that this is fraud.

That's a fake mail for sure.. Delete it immediately... It may contain an attachment that is bugged.

Inland Revenue will never send-mail, they send all their corresponded by post,Yellow envelops, just ignore it, or maybe you can call your local tax office and report this. Do not complete any forms with any information about yourself.
