How can i get my Tax Identification through internet?

Can I get a tax identification number is I'm a babysitter?

  • I babysit in my home for only one family at a time. However sometimes I can end up with 3 different families a year. I do pay taxes on the income but I'm not comfortable giving out my social security # to so many different people. Do I get a tax identification number or and employment identification number? I know that they can do IRS form 2441 and just put down that I refuse to give my ssn. I understand that this increases my odds of being audited. What is the best thing to do? My husband is worried that if I get a TIN or EIN that it will be harder to file our taxes with turbotax.

    You can apply online for a free Federal ID Number (http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=98350,00.html). There is no charge and you will receive a FEIN immediately. I have one for my sole proprietorship business. As long as you stay sole proprietor, then you only need to file one tax return. You will just need to make a few adjustments to business income and use Schedule C for Business Profits and Loss. I use Taxhawk and it goes through all my business-related information. tax id number will be your ss number in many cases. might want to form a LLC and do it in Delaware to protect your self and your husband. Any suits will be in De and will save your home. Your husband can have nothing to do with this LLC including pay of any kind. You need to protect your self and your family. Have been a LLC for 20 years and did a great deal of research on this subject before.

your SSN is your tax id you would get an EIN if you paid employees or you incorporated(don't give that a thought) if you feel uncomfortable with your SSN, you can certainly apply for the EIN at www.irs.gov

It won't be harder for TurboTax. It will just use both numbers and a schedule C with both numbers on it. I think it's a good idea.
