What is the stimulus payment?

I never got a Stimulus Payment Notifications in the mail. Does that mean I won't get a Stimulus Check?

  • I never got a Stimulus Payment Notification in the mail. Does that mean I won't get a Stimulus Check?

  • Answer:

No, the letters go out very close to the time of the payment so you might just have not gotten it YET. The letters that went out a couple months back were just information, and getting one or not doesn't mean you will or won't get a payment.

I got my check prior to my notification. Also, if you are waiting for check to be sent by mail, it still may not have been sent. Yahoo news also reported today that 15,000 stimulus checks were sent to the wrong people.

The stimulus check is based upon the income tax return that you file not whether you got a letter. If you provided your banking information with your filed return yu should be getting any stimulus payment now. If you did not provide direct deposit info they currently plan to mail checks beginning in July.

If you filed your 2007 return and you were eligible to receive a stimulus payment, you should get one. Run the numbers from your 2007 tax return through the Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator - http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/ .
