I know the IRS is always back several years, what tax year are they currently auditing?

I got hit for 2002 in 2005 so I'm guessing they're on 2004 now.

They don't necessarily audit in sequence. Sometimes it takes them months or years to match the information with your return. On other occasions they will audit you pretty quickly. That is more likely to happen if they actively suspect you of wrongdoing.
