2011 tax issues, i desperately need help, again... BAH!!! I HATE TAXES!! hahaha?
-
so i just finished filing my 2011 tax return on saturday february the 11th. and after a 3 hour ordeal i was celebrating the fact i was done with taxes for another year or so i thought, just like a dreaded sequel to an already terrible horror movie. i got another W2 in the mail, apparently my old boss from subway didn't mention to me that id be receiving two separate W2's from him because i worked in between the two stores he happened to own. so instead of taking the time to either A. combined the information from the two separate W2's or B. at least send them to me at the same damned time i mean come on! this seems like common sense to me at least. but what do i know I'm asking for tax help on yahoo answers hahaha. oh yea! i totally just remembered i do have a main question that i need to get too sorry for the rambling I'm just frustrated and so sick of doing federal taxes! i hope at least some of you are still with me and prepared to answer my tax questions. oh and on top of all of that i just realized that i never entered my 1099G for 2011. so for my 1st Question i was curious if you any of you guys out there in Q and A land know if i could just file the rest of my 2011 taxes as a separate 1040 form on a different tax website or something like that because honestly i really want to avoid having to amend my 2011 return and have to have it be delayed another week or 2 so is there anyway around having to amend my 2011 return? because I'm pretty sure that its only days away from being in my bank account and i desperately need the $$$. which brings me to my 2nd question, if i filed online as early as i did two months earlier then most people who put it off till april, chose to do the direct deposit, could i expect to see my return a lot sooner then the estimated date i was given. I'm just curious about this because i remember when i filed my 2009 tax return it was a similar story i filed right when i got my W2s in mid february and did the direct deposit and after i had received confirmation that my refund had been accepted like two days after filing, i expected to see it pop into my bank account in the estimated 2-3 weeks but surprisingly it was deposited into my account in about 3-4 days. so i was just curious if anyone knew if i could expect the same amazing results this year as i had with my 2009 refund especially considering that it only took 5 hours to be accepted this year as opposed to the normal 48-72 hours. I'm sure that 2010 would have been similar but i failed to file that year which brings me to my 3rd and final question so yea i totally forgot to file my 2010 taxes last year and i have a w2 and a 1099G that i need send in the problem is that i lost them both. i was able to track down a duplicate W2 from the company i used to work for, but the 1099G is causing me a lot more issues, like as a main example i was able to find my 2011 1099G online at the Washington state Unemployment website but could not for the life of me find anywhere on that site or the whole damned internet for that matter where they had 1099G for 2010 so does anyone out there know of any online site where i can find and locate my 1099G form for provisos years, preferably 2010? or would i have to request that the unemployment office send me another 1099G form for 2010?. i just found it odd that they had my 2011 version of my 1099G form right there online, all i had to do was log into my Unemployment account which made it really easy to get that info ready for my 2011 taxes or it would have if i hadn't completely spaced entering it when i filed on saturday =( hence the reason for my 1st question and the beginning of this tiresome ordeal. well if you made it all the way through my annoying rambling essay that was somehow tied together with 3 separate annoying tax questions, then i congratulate you and commend your determination cuz god knows i would have given up after the first paragraph. thank you for whatever help and knowledge you are able to offer me. and i wish you a happy and profitable tax season and pray/hope your taxes go a lot better then mine have this year hahaha. thanx again people of yahoos Q & A land.

Answer:
You can't file twice for the same year. You file once, then you amend using a 1040-X. In future years, I suggest you keep track of what jobs you held, and hang onto at least the last check stub. That way you can track whether or not you've received all of your W-2s. You're probably going to need to contact the unemployment department for your 2010 form. Sounds like you might want to put together a filing system.

No, you can't just send a new return with the new W-2 and the 1099G, from the same or from another site, you'll have to amend. Get the amendment ready to go so you know what if anything you'll owe extra, but wait until your original refund hits your account to mail it. Then if you owe additional because of the amendment, mail a check for that in the envelope with the amendment. And don't think too harshly of your Subway boss. Yes he could have mailed them at the same time, but you'd still have had to amend for the 1099G. He probably couldn't combine them - they are most likely different EIN's if they're for different stores. Getting accepted in a few hours isn't unusual, but getting a refund in 3-4 days is. Anything could happen, but don't count on it, probably won't. Previous years 1099's aren't generally still on line - they don't keep them there forever. Request from the unemployment office, or from the IRS using form 4506-T. and check line 8.

you NEVER refile another tax return, if you need to make changes, that would be done on a 1040X and in your case you don't have do it immediately, you have three years to file once you get everything together then proceed with the 1040X as for the employer who has two places of business he also probably has two separate EIN's for those businesses and cannot combine the two into one statement as you feel is reasonable
