When should I receive my rebate money?

Tax Rebate?

  • Hey Guys, I'm totally confused about the whole IRS rebate thing. The last 2 of my social is 52, I should have received $600 on May 9th. I did receive my tax refund direct deposit therefor I should receive my tax rebate dd. I filed my taxes early February, I heard that some people got put on an old system (maybe because they filed early) and some people got put on the new system (maybe because they filed late) I also heard that some people might not even be receiving their rebate. I'm greatful that the government wants to give everyone money but I just dont understand why this whole process has to be so complicated....does anyone know any more information?? Thanks Maggie

Hi MAggie, IT depends if you used Turbox Tax and paid for your tax preperation with your expected refund- you will not get your stimilus check via direct deposit, it will mailed to you IF you used Turbo Tax and paid for the tax prep at that time with another credit card /debit card you should have received your refund already Isnt anything with the Government complicated full of red tape?

When your check is due it will come. If you are one of the people that gets shorted because of an IRS programming glitch, they will fix it later.

You can have most of you questions answered by the IRS web site: http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html My guess for your not getting your rebate on May 9 when you expected it is that you had somebody do your taxes and paid them by letting them take part of your refund. Doing that makes it not a clean direct deposit, so you will be getting a paper check on the paper check schedule instead.

although this is nice we are getting some extra cash, keep in mind we will have to pay taxes on this extra income next year..... anyways, regardless of if you filed on the first day or April 15th that has no effect on when you recieve the rebate. If you filed with dd then you will receive the rebate dd. I did hear some were deposited in incorrect accounts, but I don't know much about it. If you dont get it in the next few weeks I would make a call. If you make over a certain amount of money (or if married combined income over $150,000) you will not be getting a rebate.

A lot of people have thought they were getting direct deposit but for whatever reason aren't, so are assuming they'll get it earlier than they really are. Check your bank statement from when the original refund came - if it says "US Treasury" you should be OK for direct deposit as long as that account is still open, and you didn’t split your refund into multiple accounts. Otherwise, you’ll get a paper check Now - for the rest of your questions. Not "everyone" gets money, and people who qualify don't necessarily get $600, the minimum is $300 and it's UP TO $600 that people get.
