1040x: Can line 3 or 5 be a negative amount? What is the amount of line 6?
-
I am pulling my hair out with this form. I seem to have all the amounts correct based off my 1040A, but lines 3 and 5 are giving me negative amounts. Also what is the amount of line 6? I have the format used to acquire the amount but I am not entirely sure what that amount is. Thanks.

Answer:
line 1 is your gross income line 2 is your itemized (or standard deduction) line 3 is the difference between 1 and 2 line 4 is the exemptions you are claiming and if this is the change you show that change on the back line 5 is subtracting 3 and 4 line 6 is the amount of your income tax
