Tax deduction for Legal Fees?

As a grad student, my school covers tuition, but I pay student fees. Can I claim these as a tax deduction?

  • The school also provides me with a stipend because they employ me as a teaching assistant. I must pay the fees to be actively enrolled and include the student activity fee, bus fee, and maintenance fees for the student union and another student group building, regardless of whether I use any of them. Can this help with the Lifetime Learning Credit, or maybe the Tuition & Fees deduction?

  • Answer:

I think that's covered in "and related expenses" described on the page I'm linking to. _
