Are tax refund and tax return the same thing?

I have not received my Tax refund. Please read on?

  • I filed my taxes on Feb 4th and my tax prepared said I would get my refund on the 17th or before and well today is the 22nd. I checked on the IRS website, with the Wheres my refund thing and well this is what it says. "We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Your expected refund date has been changed due to processing delays. You should receive your refund by February 21, 2012. Please wait until that date to contact us again because we cannot take any action until then. Thank you for your patience" On my friends it said your refund will be Deposited on the 21st and it was. We filed the same day with the same tax accountant. So if anyone could help, should i call the IRS?

    Don't bother calling the IRS. After waiting on hold for an hour, you'll just get a vague, non-committal answer. This delay has been old news now for over a month. Supposedly, new security measures hit some snafus and slowed everything down. My feeling it this is all the result of the government being so broke. Next year it will be even worse. So to avoid a similar situation next year, file a new W-4 Form and increase your withholding allowances to wipe out any chance of a refund next year. It's better to owe the government than to have the government owe you and then go broke.

See that's the thing having a Schedule Deposit Day and being told to expect it by a certain day is the difference. If I was you I would call the IRS. I have a SDD for 2/24 and I filed on 2/3. I wish you luck. I just spoke with a rep name Ms. Williams and she told me that there is no problems and my money will be here friday. So call and speak with someone.

Today is the 22nd so I would call if I were you. Mine says 3/6 and I filed on the 2nd! This year it sucks but hopefully we will all get our refunds:)

Calling is a waste of time they pretty much tell you what you read on the wmr screen and then tell you they are back logged and they are working on the problem it will not speed it up for you and if everyone keeps calling the slower this wait is going to be. i filed on the 2nd and the WMR page says they have no information on myn not even an expected date it's so screwed up this year i can't help but wonder if they got hacked or are worried they will be i mean in this day and age and all the recent things i have heard in the news is it related? hmmm is all i have to say hopefully we all get our money soon some of us are depending on it
