How can you find out if you owe back taxes on personal property?

Where do i find information about how much i owe for my home property taxes?

  • Answer:

I'm not sure where you're from so that could make some difference. Here in Colorado it's handled through an escrow kept by your home mortgage company. Calling them should get you an answer. We also get a yearly report from the county. The county does the appraisal and charges the taxes. So you could try and call the county clerk equivalent.

Your county clerk and recorder should have that information. They are the ones who assess the property.

Call the tax assessor's office of your county/parish.

The county auditors office knows what you owe, and the county treasurers office collects it.

You should be sent that info every year. When I had to check on-line I went to my city's official web site. They had the rates listed by property value and location.
