Us treasury 312 direct deposit - tax refund - overpaid $400?
-
Dear Sir/Madam, I have received my federal tax refund today and it is exactly $400 more than what it is supposed to be. From my bank account --> Direct deposit description is as follows -->Electronic Deposit Us Treasury 312 --> never received any payment from this one before, never applied for any social security benefits.. I was wondering if I was overpaid by mistake (assuming this is a tax refund related stuff) and I do not know what to do next.. Many Thanks.. Mike

Answer:
Call the IRS at 800-829-1040. It is possible that you made an error on your return and the IRS corrected it. If this happened , the IRS will send a letter, but the refund usually arrives before the letter.
