What are the methods to sell a Software online?

I sell software and a reseller also sells my software with a 28% discount - Can I claim this 28% as a expense?

  • I want to make sure I claim all my expenses for my small business this tax year. Not sure if the people reselling my software at a 28% discount is considered a expense or not. Example - I sell a software for $180.00 and the reseller also sells this for $180.00 (but they get a discount of 28% - so I sell this to them for $129.60) So would this be an expense of $50.40 for my business? Thanks for the help!

  • Answer:

No. You have a retail price of $180. and a wholesale price of $129.60. Not a business expense. Update of Feb.9: You can claim as business expenses, all expenses in connection with the "wholesale aspects" of your business.
