Anyone else having my particular issues with Tax refund?

Is anyone else having issues with TaxBrain/SBBT and their 2009 Tax Refund?

  • I have posted this on another thread but am curious if anyone else has been told anything like this. I should have received my dd today thru SBBT. I was told by an IRS Rep earlier that my refund was deposited and he gave me the routing and acct number that it was deposited into. Turns out that a large amount of people using TaxBrain/SBBT had their refunds misdirected to Republic Bank. I called Republic Bank and was told by a woman there that yes, this was the situation, however, she was not able to give me much insight into what would be done at this point other than they will have to kick the deposits back to the IRS and that takes a few days.

I cannot believe this! My husband's money was supposed to come yesterday...I filed mine on Thursday. Had I known this was gonna happen I would've gone somewhere else! Tax Brain can kiss my husband, my 2 sisters, my mom, my brother, my sister's in laws [whole family], my step dad, and my step brother goodbye! Never doing my taxes there again! Who's with me?!

Oh my God! This is crazy! No one will accept responsibility for this HUGE mistake! I have been back and forth, back and forth. I can not believe tax brain, what a bunch of JACK BALLS! We've been using them for 7 years, and I will never use them again. This is just too big of a screw up to overlook. I am so tired of being jerked around between the irs/metabank/taxbrain/republic. Had we all known this was going to happen yesterday morning, we could have all had our vaseline handy!

It isn't ssbt/metabank fault..its Taxbrain who put the wrong routing number on their software. I called republic bank and SSBT/metabank and IRS. Metabank has no control. I don't know how the IRS will correct this by working with Taxbrain. It just gets rejected by Republic and sent back to IRS..the IRS then not having our Banks Routing and Account number will just cut us all a paper check. Republic already sent those deposits back. Let only hope the IRS will ALLOW Taxbrain to make the corrections.

It is nice to hear from other people affected by this. I spent 3 and a half hours on the phone this morning, mostly on hold, with Taxbrain, the IRS, and SBBT?Metabank. The IRS was only able to tell me that they did deposit the money into the account given to them by Taxbrain. Metabank was the most helpful, letting me know what was actually going on, and that Taxbrain had made a mistake in depositing the refunds. The IRS told me that they probably wouldn't even recieve the money back until Feb.12, and then it would be weeks after that before they would send a paper check. This is devistating for me because, like so many others, really depend on that money being at least somewhat on time. I have used Taxbrain the last few years without a problem, but right now I am very angry with them. the SBBT?Metabank lady told me that she didn't think Taxbrain was handling the situation very well, and they absolutely are not. I got ZERO answers from them on the phone, they would not admit they made any mistake, and kept giving me the same pre-written answer. I told them of my desperate situation, and they said there was nothing they could do. The taxbrain rep said that she had no way to check on anything like that as they only handle helping people with other types of questions so I asked her SOMEONE ther must know something. She told me it was another department that does not answer customer calls. As far as I am concerned, Taxbrain should at the very least be appologising ans explaining to their paying customers instead of hiding behind phone reps who know nothing. Is this a possible class-action suit? I can only imagine the repercussions in the lives of so many people who trust that site and depend on their money for rent and other bills. If anyone gets any sort of update, please post it, and I will do the same! Bonnie

same problem here, guess they screwed us huh?

This news is very upsetting. I was feeling better after receiving an e-mail from SBBT, but I'm concerned again after reading this thread. Here is the e-mail I received: If you filed through Taxbrain, they are experience some software transfer issues ... which in turn delays your tax disbursement ... we are now in the process of retrieving back the funds from them quickly to re-disburse your return into your account ASAP which will be as early as Monday the 1st, 2010 and no later than Tuesday the 2nd, 2010. We do apologize for the inconvenience. We will be sending out an email to all taxbrain customers shortly taxbrain details. You must contact the Tax Brain transmitter of your tax return via the Customer Support number provided on their web site or in your tax preparation software. This is ridiculous.

I spoke with a rep from SBBT today at 11am EST. The rep informed me that there was an error and taxbrain was suppose to send emails. At the time of the call the rep informed me that SBBT is awaiting direct deposit from IRS. That they should have it tomorrow or Wednesday and once they have received it they will send it to my bank. Now when I call the IRS I get someone that seems like they are reading from a script, if a refund is returned because it can not be direct deposit that a paper check will be mailed and to call back in two weeks. I've given up getting any results from taxbrain.com. I was a faithful customer, doing my taxes plus friends and family....NOT EVER AGAIN. We are all just playing the wait and see game and it appears no one but the 15000 plus people whose refunds were affected actually care.

This is all a bunch of crap if you ask me!!! I am so mad about this. I have contacted TaxBrain about this, they said it is not their fault, that it is SBBT.. although it isnt. I will never use TaxBrain again.. I have used them for several years, but this along with a few other things this year is ENOUGH! I was initially told by a very nice man with SBBT that Taxbrain put the wrong SBBT routing number. It was suppose to have been the one in CA, but they messed up and had it going to SBBT in KY. I have read by another user that they were told it went to Republic Bank. Do they even really know where our money is at???? This is crap!!! Why cant they jsut forward this bank all of our DD info, and go from there... I was told by SBBT we would have our money no later than Tuesday, and now I am reading it could take weeks because the IRS may have to MAIL our checks!!! What is up with that. I also thought that SBBT website was suppose to be updated with info explaining all this confusion.. Where is that at? I am just very tired and very frustrated about all this MESS!! Has anyone heard anything similar or different??

This is insane. I have used tax brain for 4 years now and I have never had an issue. I found out about this issue by googling "issues with taxbrain" and it brought me to this forum. I have called the republic bank in "Kentucky" and spoke to a nice "Indian woman" who said yes they have my funds and NO they can not send them to me. I offered her lunch and $100 but she declined. They said they have to resend to the IRS within 72 hours and then the IRS will go about resending. It being Saturday morning, I can't speak to Uncle Sam and the boys. I have contacted tax brain and they have no idea what is going on, or they wont tell us. SBBT said they have "heard" of a situation but have no answers and they do not know where my money is. This is major bullsh!t, I used their service because it worked the last 3 years. I am unemployed with a family and counted on this refund. Now all of my bills are due and probably going to get evicted if I have to wait another 4+ weeks on a paper check, as well as live in the dark with no water or heat. I am honestly to the point where I want to drive to their office and beat some ***. If anyone has heard any updates on this please post. Thanks

I don't think it's the IRS's fault. They shouldn't have to confirm that the routing number given is the banks, I'm sure they work w/ thousands of different routing numbers and account numbers. It's SBBT/MetaBanks fault. They submitted the wrong tax number through their software(by default) and to the irs....we gave them our correct bank info and they screwed their info up in the transmission. someone needs to pay...sbbt should be working overtime to get this corrected....24 hr shifts...if we expected it today, we should have it today or tomorrow morning first thing....i didn't pay for this sh****! The irs is the hard part and they did their part.....but then what is the reason for other banks not getting thiers...HR Block and other preparers/banks....oh i forgot....the sheer volume of tax returns being processed this year.....get out of here! No one told them to do away with the RAL and if we would have received our money sooner by paying for the fees up front they should have told us!!!!! Please keep me updated....the irs is showing a different page on my status now...frustrated!!!
