Renault Laguna Dci 2003 - Advice please on drivers door not locking & drivers window fault...... please advise?
-
Hi everyone, im no mechanic and i need to get a couple of faults sorted with my 2003 Laguna Dci, just hoping to get a bit of advice and your opinions so i had a rough idea of what i was talking about!! First problem i noticed last night, when i lock and deadlock my car with the remote everything looks fine, the hazards all flash correctly and it appears locked.I check all doors inc the boot and they are all locked except for the drivers door. What this means is that although the car appears secure you can still open the drivers door. The first time i noticed this the alarm went off so i thought at least i would know if someone opened my door,i locked up a number of times and still had the same problem, even took her round the block to see if that would reset anything...no luck. Another problem now is that when i lock up now the drivers door can still be opened but the alarm does not go off,all i can hear is a quiet high pitched noise coming from inside the car which i guess is something to do with the alarm. There are no warning lights. Second problem is on that same door my window is very temperamental,it goes down not too bad but does not want to go back up,it makes grinding sounds and goes up a little at a time,if i keep playing with it i.e a little bit up,a little bit down eventually it gets back to the top, this is really frustrating (especially at the McDonalds drive thru ;-D ) Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated Regards, Steve

Answer:
HI steve, to answer your first question might be a bit of a problem as it could be few things causing this fault. most obvious is fault faulty central locking mechanism at driver side door. as for the window grinding its most likely that the window regulator is on its way out? new one will cost you about 45 pounds (Traynors) or 95 pounds(Renault).. i had the same problem until the window dropped into the door altoghether... hope i helped..:)

I suspect you have a problem with the electrics where they pass from the car body to the door. Look at the leading edge of the door from inside with the door open. Between the hinges there is a black snake-like connection between the A-pillar and the door - check that this is in place, and isn't allowing water ingress. If you cannot find anything, get an auto electrician to investigate.

well you could ask a mechanic or even renault themselves, i'm sure they could give SOME advise! or you could try changing the whole car's lock system (or just the driver's side door lock) i'm sure it would help! also is your window electrical? if it is then may be it's the window's system too. if that doesn't work then may be it's the whole of that side which needs fixing. i think asking renault themselves would be best!
