Renault clio sport 172 alternator replacement?

  • I need help removing my alternator on my 2003 clio 172, does anyone know how to remove this from the car?

    Should be easy there is only two small 13mm head bolts the top one can adjust the alternator as well as come of the bottom one might have a nut at the other side so you ll need two spanners. take the top bolt of first push the alternator back then take the bottom bolt of and it should come out. Be careful as the drive belt can get in the way.

If your asking then i guess yours is not a 172 cup model ! On a standard 172 clio, you will need to remove the front bumper and the headlight on the drivers side so you can access the alternator belt tensioner. Support the engine and remove the engine mounting to give your self a bit more room, release the tensioner and remove the belt, replace the alternator and re-tension the belt (good luck with that part !) refit all the removed parts.
