Car comparisons?

I've heard that Vectras eat clutches and repairs are expensive. Personally I'd go for the Renault as it's a better looking car, Renaults are fairly well built, and the 16v motor should give better performance and mpg.

I'm assuming you're asking because these are the two cars you're considering buying, so I'll make it easy.... buy whichever one is in better condition. They're both similar ages, engine sizes etc, so one will be as good as the other as far as power, economy, & running costs go. Conventional wisdom probably suggests the Vectra might be less troublesome, & cheaper to maintain, but at that age, either one could end up being a money pit, so check them out carefully, & buy the better car.

Renault Laguna is a great car, great performance and economy and Space. It's ride is superior to Vauxhall and at the time was a newish car so more modern. Vauxhall Vectra's are the same as a 20 Year old Cavalier, Chassis the same, engines just modernised with newer parts, and the looks are as bland as a Cod. I'm not saying the Vectra is unreliable, but Properly maintained, the Renault will out live the Vauxhall. Its up to you though at the end of the day, I have my car and live with it everyday and am Happy in my choice (Similar dilemma Scenic vs Zafira) Not much seperate the cars but you'll be driving it. Test them thoroughly on the journey's you would do. Whats easier to live with, and what do you use the car for? Test it to see if it does what you need. Good Luck in your choice.

I wouldn't recommend either. Neither have any decent qualities, both have miserably poor manufacturing standards, parts are extortionately expensive and both are unreliable. Buy a German or Japanese car. Both have exceptional quality control histories and offer much better value.
