Engine shaking when in neutral?

Fiat Punto engine shaking when idle?

  • I used my sisters car last night to see a friend, the total trip distance was 140 miles. Driving there and back went as normal I had too refuel it on the way home and it was normal whilst sitting idle at the petrol station. When I arrived at home I noticed with no gas applied it was now shaking on inspection this morning it was still shaking at idle and cut off twice as I took it for a test drive. Having done some research online I found it could be several things, having checked with my sister she informed me it has recently had a new head gasket. Any thoughts? The car in question is a Fiat Punto 1.2, x reg and has done around 68k miles

  • Answer:

Could be contaminated or poor qualty fuel or the head gasket could have gone bad again. A lot of head gasket jobs aren't done right because they weren't torqued down right, the head bolts were stretched and should have been replaced or the head was warped.
