Is this Valentine's Day again?

Does anyone else think that Valentines Day is overrated?

  • Okay. I dislike Valentines Day. It is not because I don't believe in love and not because I don't have someone to spend it with. In fact I am quite in love and have been with my boyfriend for two years. That aside, Valentines Day is overrated. I feel like there are 364 other days in the year to express your love, why is this day so special? It is just the card and candy companies attempting to turn a profit from overpriced novelties. You get a card and chocolate for your boyfriend on Valentines day whoopie, why not just to surprise him and say you love him. Like why are so many people obsessed with the outcome of one day. OMG he is gonna tell you he likes you on Valentines! Or, What should I get my boyfriend/girlfriend on Valentines? And no offense to anyone who has gotten married or proposed on Valentines, but how is it romantic when you know a thousand other people are doing it on that day too? Why should this one day be an expression of love? Shouldn't you sow your love everyday?

    I agree. They make out this day to be a huge day of love and in reality I guess maybe it is for young people who can't really express themselves any other time. I think people expect way too much out of Valentines Day and then when it comes and they don't get their 'fantasy' they are disappointed, but they need to see how much their lover shows them love on every other day as well.

It was invented by people with money who wanted to get more money. That's why I dont do anything different on V-day. You should express your love everyday. And celebrating V-day doesnt mean you're not expressing it every other day either. I just cook a nice meal like I normally would, but I light some candles and crack open one of the bottles of wine we have in the fridge. But nothing over the top and I'm definatley never doing a night out on V-day, the crowds would ruin any romantic evening even if that's what you were planning.

I completely agree...i think that to have a holiday where you are expected to gift for someone to show you love them is ridiculous. I feel that i show it all year..weather it be flowers or whatever...an unexpected oh i was shopping today and found this for you thing, or i was thinking about you today and got this...it is unoriginal as far as that stuff goes to...however i will conform to society and be celebrating it but we are not buying each other anything we are making something....something that means something to each of us and giving that to each other this year.

I agree, Valentines Day is a just a way for the candy and card companies to make money. Why cant you express your love everyday. I feel like purposely doing it on Valentines Day because you "have to" does not make it genuine.

I completely agree with you, Valentines is a stupid, stupid holiday. If you love someone so much, you should show them special affection everyday. "Cupid" rhymes with "Stupid"
