Could someone please come up with brief explanation about this? Why do you think it's special? Don't you think we should treat our beloved ones everyday, as we treat them in the Valentine's day? Please give me sensible opinions ~ no teasing or insuting okay? I just need your good opinions...

Answer:
Three hundred years after the death of Jesus Christ, the Roman emperors still demanded that everyone believe in the Roman gods. Valentine, a Christian priest, had been thrown in prison for his teachings. On February 14, Valentine was beheaded, not only because he was a Christian, but also because he had performed a miracle. He supposedly cured the jailer's daughter of her blindness. The night before he was executed, he wrote the jailer's daughter a farewell letter, signing it "From Your Valentine." Another legend tells us that this same Valentine, well-loved by all, received notes to his jail cell from children and friends who missed him. The custom of choosing a sweetheart on this date spread through Europe in the Middle Ages, and then to the early American colonies. Throughout the ages, people also believed that birds picked their mates on February 14! Whatever the odd mixture of origins, St Valentine's Day is now a day for sweethearts. It is the day that you show your friend or loved one that you care. You can send candy to someone you think is special. Or you can send roses, the flower of love. Most people send "valentine" a greeting card named after the notes that St Valentine received in jail. My birthday as well on Valentines day

Saint Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards, candy, or donations to charities, often anonymously. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the form of "valentines". Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline and the figure of the winged Cupid. Since the 19th century, handwritten notes have largely given way to mass-produced greeting cards. The Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year behind Christmas. The association estimates that women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines. In the United States, the marketing of Valentine's Day has tagged it as a "Hallmark holiday". A recent trend has been to refer to February 14 as Singles Awareness Day.

I do not know the history of valentines day and can not open any website because my college's internet connetion is awful . I agree with you about treating our beloved ones everyday as we treat them in the valentine's day. It is not special in my opinion it is just a day like first day of a new year . I mean an ordinary day for me . Just to find a reason to show your love but you do not need a reason to show it .So you can use everyday to say I love you to someone .

Well, its really when St. Valentine died. Though, I think: Its a day made up by some card company to increase profits. And many people fall for it. It is somehow an excuse to express your feelings to a person you like/love and not be judged. So its good if people love you, and its bad if they dont.
