Where is the comment section for Yahoo news?

Did yahoo remove the comment feature on the news section?

  • I can't find an option to comment on any of the yahoo news stories. I also don't see any comments posted. Is this just a problem with me or is anyone else seeing the same thing?

  • Answer:

Probably called censoring. It was a good outlet, both good and bad opinions. Yahoo has its reasons, but I just think they wanted to be more politically correct since many negative comments came on the heels of Obama and other politicians. Sad, though. The comment section was the highlight of my day.

Yes, it appears that the comments section has been disabled on all yahoo news sites.

I think they might be making an update to the system or fixing a major bug. I noticed in the last day or two that comments were being ordered by the ratio of thumbs up to thumbs down instead of by when they were posted. At least, that's what I hope. I really have no idea, I'm just speculating. I'd hate to see the comments section disappear forever.

I'm seeing the same thing. There has been a lot of pressure to remove the comments section because of the volume of hate speech that is submitted. It was removed at one point in the past for the same reason. Unfortunately i am addicted to writing on comments and have used it as a form for getting out positive ideas for some time now, (well, my own ideas. That is positive right?). I found an article on it's past removal in the Dissident voice online news site. I can find nothing on yahoo itself or any article yet about its current removal.

i just asked the same question, i think they took it down or something.

I've been trying to find the answer to this very question for the last few hours. While the hate speech was irritating, I did enjoy the diverse opinions and observations expressed in the comments. I also noticed that for several hours prior the articles always defaulted to the most popular comments being first despite that I would change this to the most recent post showing first. It will be a free speech loss if this is permanent. Just to add. I looked at Canada's yahoo comments sections and they are still active so I would surmise that other Country's are also still active. Therefore it is possible, that there is a temporary problem here in the US.

it's gone for me, too. I'm kind of glad for it, a lot of the people commenting were Debbie downers and negative Nancy's who didn't read the article and only read the headline. not sure why they got rid of it, they could be filtering the trolls and spam out, or just decided to get rid of it.

I'm having the same problem. No comments are visible from other people and I can't comment.

Yahoo has taken down the comments section apparently. I guess all they want is watered down, soft and sweet comments, and/or people who agree with the Yahoo corporate owner's political views. This is mainstream American media today at its most disturbing. If you don't agree with them, they don't want to hear what you have to say? Ha! That's really lame! It is a flagrant violation of 1st Amendment rights, and it only encourages those conniving politicians in DC who want to gag certain people and to pass legislation violating their 1st Amendment rights. The 1st Amendment is not in the Constitution to protect watered-down, soft and sweet, popular speech and ideas. It's there to protect unpopular, unorthodox speech and ideas! Otherwise what do we need a 1st Amendment for, if no one ever says anything that Big Brother does like?

Apparently it was taken down and with good reason. It was filth. Blatantly racist and xenophobic hate language. Never heard so much hate in my life.Yahoo news had become a watering hole for some very sick people. I don't blame them for yanking that priviledge. They don't owe anyone a free vehicle for spewing out verbal hate crimes. The hate language about blacks, Muslims, gays and anyone who is different was sickening. And even after the earthquake, there were posts slamming the Japanese, one saying "I hate those people...". Good riddance. Racists and others in that political camp will have to find another place to commiserate! The forum had lost its functionality. No matter what the topic of a news story was, could've been about raising bees and making honey, the far right pounced on it with attack Obama posts. It was useless.
