The problem with Yahoo Home Page?

No cleartype on Yahoo home page with IE--recent problem?

  • A few days ago most of the fonts on my Yahoo home page reverted to ugly, non-cleartype fonts that are difficult to read when using Internet Explorer. Before that they were fine. This is particularly noticeable on news headlines. It happens on all computers, on both IE7 and IE8. Yet other browsers, including Firefox, are displaying these as readable cleartype with no problem. Has anybody else experienced this problem, and is there a fix?

    I have noticed the problem as well, except it's only with *some* of the text on the page. The headings get the Cleartype treatment but regular body text does not. I don't have a fix. This problem happened after I installed Vista SP2. If I zoom the page in IE to 150% then those fonts will smooth out with Cleartype. I've tried various remedies but nothing works. This appears to only affect the My Yahoo page. Other sites do not have this problem. Will keep trying to find the cause. --------------------- 06/12/09 Update:The problem went away by itself, or Yahoo made a change to their html code overnight. Either way, all text on the My Yahoo page now gets the Cleartype treatment. Same for the rest of you?

I have exactly the same problem. I've used Yahoo as my home page for years and all of a sudden, a few days ago, all the fonts have become difficult to read "non clear-type" fonts. I have no idea why.

For what it's worth, I'm having the exact same problem you're having. And it just started about a week or two ago. Only my Yahoo homepage, and only in IE. Cleartype in Firefox works fine. Bizarre.

I am so glad to read these responses, as I had started to think that it was my eyes. I tried all sorts of solutions and then thought maybe I'd imagined it being clearer before! I can't even access my home page at the moment. More problems?
