Is it safe to buy a phone off of ebay??

How do I safely buy a cell phone on ebay? I want one that def. works with AT&T and isn't sketchy or messed up.?

  • My dog completely DESTROYED my phone, and I need a new one w/out updating my contract. I want to buy one from eBay b/c it is a bit expensive at the AT&T distributor if I don't renew my contract. I just don't know if this is safe??? I want a safe phone that isn't stolen or foreign or anything. How do I make sure it's legit and safe and will work in my area?

    First, look at the sellers feedback. Make sure they have more than 100 and are around 100% positive (98 or 99 is good). Read the negatives but keep an open mind. Next, make sure you pay with paypal. A seller who accepts paypal has to be legit. If anything goes wrong, paypal will go after them. Also, make sure the seller is located the US. Good luck!

every time that you buy something from ebay you are taking a risk because you are buying from people that neither you nor ebay really knows.

use amazon.com much safer. and the person below me apparently doesn't understand that Verizon phones aren't compatible with AT&T

Just buy an AT&T prepaid go phone. Just put your sim card in it and presto it works. My daughter bought one off ebay and it was scratched and it wouldn't let her send picture mail and get on the internet. It was a piece of crap.

DO NOT buy a cell-phone on e-bay. It is almost guaranteed not to work. Don't waste your money. Buy from Verizon.
