Is Yahoo removing adult profiles?

Is Yahoo going to start removing and banning those who have "adult" profiles?

  • There is a complete section for adult profiles - i believe it's called mature. Recently some people i know have gotten an email - supposedly from yahoo - saying that all adult profiles will be removed and future ones banned. Does anyone know if this is correct info? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

It would not surprise me one bit for Yahell to do that...however I have not seen any such emails... I'm curious how many Yahell subscribers to premium services have adult oriented profiles and how many will stop paying for those services and leave if Yahell pulled something that stupid. I think the numbers are higher than they realize and the lost revenue will be much more substantial than they can recover from...LOL!!!

I have one that is an "adult profile" not that much is on it -- I've never received such an email. I found out the hard way that if you have a 360 and want so much as a bikini pic on it, you better make it adult or you WILL be reported! EDIT: I was mistaken, I just recieved such an email, ironically I've wanted to change that for months but the picture changer has been not working. Anyway you'll still have an account just they'll delete the mature content, here's what they said to me. "We're making some changes that will affect one of your Yahoo! profiles. After April 9, 2008, mature content will not be permitted within Yahoo! Profiles. In accordance with this new policy, users will no longer be able to designate an "adult profile," and mature content will be removed. The profile for the Yahoo! ID ******* is marked "adult." The picture associated with this profile will be removed and deleted on April 9, 2008. We encourage you to upload a new profile photo on that date that complies with the Yahoo! Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Please take a moment to review our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines."

Wow this is weird... I found another hala on YA. Hi hala L, great answers. ;) I'm all for editing inappropriate avatars. I've seen some really inappropriate nasty ones and I've always wondered why YA allows it. I would support YA if they chose to enforce tasteful avatars.

I guess that they just want to turn this into a playground for kids then!...They need to have an adult site!

I got one of those e-mails also. It seems YaHell is trying to become more family friendly. They have been giving the adult "mature" users a hard time for the past few years. Pretty soon YaHell will be like AOL. Nobody will be willing to have anything to do with them.

no longer a yaHell friend

The only thing that is going to happen, if you haven't changed your profile by April 9th to NOT be "Adult", is they're going to delete your photo. If your photo is already "G-Rated", simply edit your profile and remove the flag next to "Adult", and your photo will remain.

Just to protest I think you should all get nekkid and march on Yahoo corporate...and film it (in the interest of getting the word out of course). That would she me...err them!
