Truly, what's going on in Yahoo!360?
-
Well, I know that's a little bit out of date but I still don't know what's going on. All I know that Yahoo! is working on a more integrated profile site and also has created Mash. I don't see any points to create Mash and personally I think it's a terrible site. But the team also say that they will not fix any bugs in 360 anymore - my Yahoo! Groups box doesn't show up, The feed section doesn't work. So, what's going to happen to Yahoo! 360? I just don't want to loose my friends nor my blogs. I have been there for almost 2 years now - I want more improved Yahoo! 360, not starting everything all over again.

Answer:
Yahoo has decided to combine it's 3 services (360, Mash, and the regular Yahoo Members Profile) that basically accomplish the same thing (i.e. telling the world about yourself) into one service. They just haven't pinned down the "how" of creating this "universal profile". The transition should happen in early 2008. So, Y!360 closing in the sense that it may no longer be called Y!360 when the transition to a new social networking platform is done. So, what other people call "closing", I call "reconstruction." So, if there are things that you do like about Yahoo! 360 that you would like to see remain intact, you should state those aspects on the Y!360 team's blog at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 . That is also where you can read about the changes in store for Y!360. To read my view of the situation and tips, see http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=417 . Feeds work, but they take 2 weeks or so to show up rather than one day. Also, they may not show up correctly. The module has always been buggy though. Getting a RSS link to be accepted can take SEVERAL tries. Groups missing from the page may be on purpose (possibly part of the transition). But your subscriptions are fine as Y!Groups is a separate service. Y!360 was just a way to display your groups to others.

Everything will be migrated to Mash á Y! promised. They understand that if they don't do it, they will lose all. Mash is a quite messy , however ,there are tons of sites helping you to make it easier and better. Just get a Mash 1st and things will be ok
