How do you put a live card on the xbox 360?

When i first start Xbox live on 360 does it charge my mum's credit card as soon as i put in the details?

I just got an xbox and i want to start Xbox Live. On the setup process because im under age, i need a parent. It needs a credit card. Will i be charged straight away as i put the details in or do i have to agree to something later on in the setup. Thanx!

You shouldn't need a credit card to setup live. All you do is get an Xbox live gold card for a year plus a month membership from a department or electronics store. As long you have a wireless adaptor thats connected to a network, or its hooked up through an ethernet code to your modem, you shouldnt need a credit card. My brother's had live for over two years and he didnt need one to set it up. Maybe just because you're underage they need proof that there's a parent in the household, im not sure. Call microsoft if you're still stuck.
