How do i play Xbox games on my Xbox 360?

My xbox 360 will play some games and not play other ones that i know that work, how do i fix this?

• hello, i've had my xbox for a year and 10 days so im out of warrenty, i just called xbxo suppourt and they are trying to charge me a 100 bucks to send it in, my problem is that most of my games play except nhl 10, 09, and ncaa football 09, nhl 10 is practicaly my favorite game and i can't even play it. Every now and then they do work, but most of the time it tells me i have to clean my disk or restart my console and it never works. Halo 3 cod 4 n 5, and mlb 2k9 all work. i've returned nhl 10 twice and both new disks dont work. all 3 games work on my friends xbox. i'm really concerned since the new call of duty comes out soon and i'm looking forward to that and have already pre ordered. If anyone has any advise or what to do it will be extremly appreciated.

  Well I have researched bcause I am having the same problem with a few games not wanting to load. This has gone on for weeks. Now recently games are freezing on me. In my rsearch I have found these are very common signs of the red ring comin for both me and you... Good news is there is a three year rrod warranty now so most of us are covered. Good luck.
