How do i hook up a xbox360 to the internet?

  • i know i need a router and ethernet cable. i have two computers in seperate rooms with one router in the room the xbox wont be cause that router is occupied.can i have a router in the room the xbox is or would two routers interfere with each other

    Don't listen to guy under me. If you have a wireless router then you can get the wireless connector for the 360 but otherwise you need to put the 360 in the same room with the router unless you have a really long USB cord. And the 360 will act as if it were a computer it wont really interfere with your other internet connections.

The guy above me meant to say 'dont listen to the guy above me' i think lol. I had a similar issue where my router didnt have enough ports to put another ethernet/RJ45 lead into so i bought a multi-ethernet slot extension for £14.99 rather than a new router and even when the computer is using the PC too my xbox works fine on live. Also I have moved my router into the room with the xbox and played live while my friend played on WoW and it was fine (and i have SLOW broadband so thats impressive). To summarise, I wouldnt worry about your router being occupied- im sure it can cope, however if not, a second router might work although its expensive and would require more than just an ethernet cable- another DSL cable would be needed too i think? Hope that helps a bit!

you can buy a wireless antenna for the back of the video game console. You can find them used at GameStop, Play N Trade, etc... or you can get a router in the room with the Xbox. The routers should be able to co-exist with no problem. No matter what company. Hope this helps.
