How do I fix my XBOX 360 3 red light problem?

What is causing the e74 error on my xbox 360 elite?

• as i said i have an xbox 360 elite that is getting the e74 error. ( 1 red light in bottom right quadrant.) i had pulled of my warranty sticker so i took it to a local guy and he fixed it. the graphics card had to be replace, as so i was told. it worked good for 3 weeks. but then the graphics got bad, i turned it off and it got better. then it got the error again. i power cycled, and it worked. but it got the error again and i couldn't fix it. i took it back to the guy and he fixed it for free and it works. but i want to know what caused the problem, and how can i prevent it? it is over heating? can using component or HD cables cause the problem? can moving my xbox around cause it? i normally play it 3+ hours a day, so is it probable it's overheating? i think im going to ad a fan. whats causing the error?

  I don't think its from overheating i hardly played mine and it happened to me. That sucks that you took off the warranty sticker cause i just sent mine in. Try sending it to a new person if that guy isn't fixing it all the way maybe.
